Jewelry at Central Phuket: Floresta & Festival
Central Phuket — still widely called Central Festival — is the island's main shopping mall, on the bypass road just north of Phuket Town. It has two connected wings: Festival, the original mainstream mall, and Floresta, the newer luxury side. For jewellery it is the low-friction choice: fixed prices, brand paperwork, air conditioning and a standard returns policy, with Thai gold shops and international houses under one roof. This guide covers what each wing holds, how it compares with the standalone showrooms, hours and the VAT refund. We run a free transfer to a showroom, so read this as background: you never have to buy anything.
The short version
Come to the mall for brand-name finished pieces, watches, and Thai gold at the daily rate without haggling. The Festival wing is mid-range plus traditional gold shops; the Floresta wing is international luxury. Everything is fixed price with a set returns policy.
For a loose certified gemstone, a wide sapphire or ruby selection, or a bespoke setting with a proper design consultation, the standalone showrooms do it better and with more room to compare — see the shopping overview.
The two wings
Central Festival
The original wing. Mid-range jewellery counters, several traditional Thai gold shops pricing off the daily rate, watch retailers, and department-store jewellery. Practical, busy, and where locals shop.
Central Floresta
The newer luxury wing, connected by a link bridge. International jewellery and watch houses, higher price points, brand boutiques with their own service and warranty. Quieter and more spacious.
What it is good for
Fixed prices you do not have to negotiate, recognised brands with full paperwork, gold by weight without a hard sell, watches, and gifts you can return to a set policy.
What it is weaker on
Depth of loose coloured-stone stock, room to compare a specific sapphire or ruby, bespoke design work, and the keenest gemstone prices — all of which favour the standalone showrooms.
Mall vs showroom: which for what
- A known brand piece or a watch — the mall, for the boutique, warranty and service network
- Gold chain or bangle by weight — the mall's gold shops, or any town-centre gold shop, all on the same daily rate
- A certified loose sapphire, ruby or fancy stone — a standalone showroom, with your own independent laboratory report
- Bespoke setting or a redesign — a showroom with an in-house workshop and a design consultation
- Zero-negotiation, easy-returns gift shopping — the mall
Getting there and hours
Central Phuket is on the bypass road just north of Phuket Town, near our own base in Wichit — about 10 minutes from the showroom, 10–15 from Phuket Town hotels, and 30–45 minutes from the west-coast beaches (Patong, Karon, Kata) and the Bang Tao / Laguna area. The mall and its jewellery counters open daily, roughly 10:30–22:00. Parking is large and free.
- Free transfer from Phuket Town
- Free transfer from Patong
- Free transfer from Bang Tao
- All 12 pickup areas
Buying and the VAT refund
- Prices are fixed; you will not bargain, but seasonal mall promotions and card-partner discounts exist — ask
- Cards are standard; keep the itemised tax invoice
- For a gem-set piece, ask what the stone is and whether it is treated, and get it on the receipt
- Participating shops issue the P.P.10 "VAT Refund for Tourists" form; large malls often have a downtown refund service point too
- The 7% refund is still collected at the airport — Customs inspection before check-in, refund counter after immigration. See the buyer's guide

The mall has two connected wings. Central Festival, the original wing, has mid-range jewellery counters, traditional Thai gold shops and watch retailers. Central Floresta, the newer wing, carries international luxury jewellery and watch houses. Everything is fixed price, sold with brand paperwork, and returns are handled to a set policy.
Not usually for loose coloured stones or custom work — the standalone showrooms carry deeper gemstone stock and more room to compare on a specific stone. The mall's strength is fixed pricing, brand-name finished pieces, gold by the daily rate without haggling, and watches. If you want a certified sapphire or a bespoke setting, see a showroom; if you want a known brand or a gold chain with no negotiation, the mall is simpler.
The mall is open daily, roughly 10:30 to 22:00, with the jewellery counters keeping the same hours. It is on the bypass road just north of Phuket Town, about 10 minutes from our showroom and 30–45 minutes from most beach areas.
Yes, through the standard VAT Refund for Tourists scheme. Shops in the mall that take part display the sign and can issue the P.P.10 form with the tax invoice; large Thai malls often have a downtown VAT refund service point as well. The refund itself is still collected at the international airport after immigration, with a Customs inspection of the goods before check-in.
No. Looking around is optional. If you use our free transfer, the pickup and the return are covered whether or not you buy, and there is no booking fee.
